Fruit trees suitable foliar spray fertilizer

Foliar spray fertilizer, also known as foliar feeding, is an essential technique in the cultivation of fruit trees. This method is not only efficient but also saves time and labor, with a high nutrient absorption rate. Within 24 hours, up to 80% of the applied fertilizer can be absorbed by the plant. When applied during the flowering stage, it helps increase fruit set rates; during leaf and fruit development, it promotes fruit growth and enhances chlorophyll content. As a result, foliar fertilization is a practical and effective way to improve yield and fruit quality while reducing manual effort. Regarding the types and concentrations of foliar fertilizers: 1. **Nitrogen-based fertilizers** such as urea should be used at a concentration of 0.3%. 2. **Ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulfate** are typically applied at 0.2% concentration. 3. **Phosphate fertilizers**, including monoammonium phosphate and potassium phosphate, are used at 0.5–1% concentration. 4. **Potassium fertilizers**, like potassium chloride and potassium nitrate, are recommended at a concentration of 1%. The application method involves dissolving the fertilizer in water at the appropriate concentration and spraying it directly onto the leaves. It's best to spray in the early morning (between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.) or late afternoon (from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.), avoiding the intense midday sun. Spraying during hot periods can cause rapid evaporation and may even burn the foliage. When applying, focus on the underside of the leaves, as this area is more absorbent due to its less waxy surface. It is generally advised to apply foliar sprays every 10–15 days. These sprays can also be combined with pesticide applications for better efficiency and cost savings. Different types of fruit trees may require different formulations depending on their nutritional needs. Trees that bear fruit over many years often require nitrogen to replenish nutrients and boost flower production for the following season. Young trees or those not yet bearing fruit should receive phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to encourage flower bud formation and promote early fruiting and high yields. Tailoring the foliar fertilizer to the tree’s specific stage and condition ensures optimal growth and productivity.
