Reasons for the premature decay of eggplant

1. Seedlings are usually raised from June to July. At this time, the temperature is very high and the air humidity is relatively high. If the seedbeds are not shaded and temperature-reduced measures are taken, the growth of the shoots and leaves of the seedlings on the shoots is extremely strong, and the phenomenon of leggy can easily occur. Occurrence of poorly growing seedlings in the roots of the growth and development of poor, absorptive function is not strong.

2. Applying a large amount of chemical fertilizers at the seedling stage, especially the application of more nitrogenous fertilizers, exacerbated the phenomenon of leggy seedlings, stimulated the growth of shoots and leaves of the shoot, the relative growth and development of roots, and weak absorption.

3. After planting, a large number of chemical fertilizers are applied in greenhouses. Generally, 100-150 kg of compound fertilizers are applied to the base fertilizer, and top dressing is applied. In the first year, the cumulative application of chemical fertilizers is over 300 kg. The seedlings inhibited the development of the depth and breadth of the root system. The underdevelopment of roots affects the absorption function.

4. When plowing arable land in greenhouse cultivation, some use rotary ploughs to plow about 10 centimeters in depth, some use manual plowing depths of less than 20 centimeters, long-term overturning of land is too shallow, and large amounts of fertilizer are used to destroy the soil. The structure resulted in serious soil compaction and the bottom of the plow was very shallow. Eggplant is a deep-rooted crop that requires deep, loose soil. In shallow, hard-packed soils, the root system cannot develop well. Impaired eggplant roots do not have very strong absorption functions.

5. In greenhouse cultivation, in order to increase planting density and increase early yield, double dry pruning method is often used, which is different from multi-dry pruning in open cultivation. This double dry pruning has a large amount of pruning, which greatly weakens the growth of stems and leaves. The decrease in shoot growth will also inhibit the growth and development of the root system and reduce the root absorption capacity in the later growth period. With the increase of growth height, the transportation distance of water and fertilizer is getting farther and farther, and transportation to the late growth stage will also affect the growth and yield.

6. In greenhouse eggplant cultivation, mulching is used. After covering the film, the soil environment near the surface is very superior, which inhibits the deep growth of the root system. Shallow roots absorb a large amount of fertilizer elements in shallow soils, resulting in the lack of fertilizer elements in shallow soils in later growth stages. The lack of these fertilizer elements has affected the growth and development of the eggplant during the later period.

Measures to Prevent Premature Decline of Eggplant

1. Shading and cooling measures should be taken to prevent seedlings from becoming leggy and promote root development. Reduce fertilizer application during nursery period. As long as the organic fertilizer is sufficient, nitrogen fertilizer may not be applied.

2. When planting, the application amount of chemical fertilizer in basal fertilizer should be reduced. 30-50 kilograms of compound fertilizer can be used per acre. After planting, seedlings should be planted to promote root growth and development.

3. Before planting, spray a deep tillage soil conditioner, 200 grams per mu, to promote loose and transparent soil 30-50 cm deep. This will not only be conducive to root growth and development, enhance absorption capacity, reduce the lack of fertilizer elements, but also improve the water storage capacity of the soil. After watering, the water will quickly seep into the soil and there will be no water on the ground surface. There is water storage in the lower layer of the soil and no drought damage will occur. Reduce the number of waterings in the greenhouse in winter to avoid lowering the ground temperature and increasing air humidity.

4. In the second year of cultivation, from May to May, combined with spray insecticide, fungicides and other drugs, topdressing potassium, boron, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and other fertilizer elements are applied every 5-10 days. About 0.3%. Foliar fertilization solves the problem of fertilizer element deficiency.
