These photos have been a long time coming—seriously, they’re a couple of weeks late, and in the world of newborns, that feels like forever! Truth be told, I’ve got a whole backlog of posts waiting in the wings, just needing a final edit or a few extra words here and there. Lately, life’s been a whirlwind, what with the joy of welcoming our newest bundle of love into the family and trying to keep up with everything else. But here we go—finally wrapping up our maternity series with Weeks 37 and 38. “There really are places in the heart you don’t even know exist until you love a child.†— Anne Lamott And now, back to the chaos and joy of life with a newborn. It’s chaotic, exhausting, and absolutely magical all at once. There’s something about holding your tiny human in your arms that changes everything. If you’ve ever experienced it, you’ll understand exactly what I mean. Parenthood is a wild ride, but one I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. I hope you enjoyed catching up on this chapter of our journey. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve ever felt the same way about parenthood—it’s always nice to connect with others who’ve been there. Until next time, thanks for sticking around! By the end of my pregnancy, I was already dilated to three centimeters and experiencing random contractions almost daily. In fact, during this very photo shoot, I was right in the middle of some intense ones. Each pregnancy is so unique, and this one definitely had its own flair. I must admit, I never felt anything quite like these contractions with my previous pregnancies. Our little guy made his entrance in his own special way, leaving quite the impression on all of us.
Hello, beautiful world! Welcome, sweet little Skylar Lee Blue! You decided to arrive right on schedule at 38 weeks, giving us a few extra days to cherish those precious snuggles. Every time I say your name, my heart swells with so much love—it’s overwhelming, in the best possible way. That tuft of dark hair, your soft skin, the way you look for me when you hear my voice—I’m completely smitten. You truly light up my world, my bright Skye.

If you’re a regular reader of blogs, you might already be familiar with Google Reader. But guess what? Google is phasing out their blog-reading service soon. Lucky for me, I ditched Google Reader a while back and switched to Bloglovin’, which has tons of awesome features. Unlike Google Reader, Bloglovin’ gives bloggers credit for their traffic, and it even lets you sync all your subscriptions with one click (imagine adding them all back manually—it’s a nightmare!).
