Herbicides are most suitable for wheat fields

With rising temperatures, wheat is gradually entering the green-up stage, which is the optimal time for weed control in wheat fields. But what is the best herbicide to use in our county? Considering the wide variety of herbicides available and the types of weeds that commonly appear in our local wheat fields, along with the results from recent trials and demonstrations, it has been found that 15% Thifensulfuron Methyl wettable powder (commonly known as "Wangwang") is highly effective against broadleaf weeds. This herbicide is an ultra-efficient and safe foliar and stem-applied product that targets a wide range of annual broadleaf weeds. It requires a small dosage, has a moderate residual period, and can be applied over a wide window of time. It breaks down quickly in the soil and does not affect subsequent crops such as peanuts, soybeans, or corn after 30 days of application. For best results, apply 10 grams per acre when weeds are at the 2-4 leaf stage, mixing with 30-50 kg of water and applying evenly through spraying. While herbicides containing tribenuron-methyl may be cheaper, they have a shorter effectiveness period and can leave residues in the soil for up to 60 days or more. Improper use can significantly impact later crops, so they should be used with caution. It's recommended to apply them before the end of the month and avoid increasing the dosage without proper guidance. For controlling grassy weeds like wild oats and barnyard grass, 6.9% Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl emulsion or 7.5% Jinma aqueous emulsion is ideal. Apply 60-70 ml per acre when weeds are at the two-leaf stage, again using 30-50 kg of water for even coverage. In fields where both broadleaf and grassy weeds are present, these two herbicides can be mixed together for better control. Herbicides require careful handling and precise dosing. Always use the secondary dilution method to ensure proper mixing. When applying, choose the right time—ideally between 9 am and midday when the weather is calm, sunny, and the temperature is between 10°C and 20°C for maximum effectiveness. Avoid spraying on windy days or during extreme heat, as this can reduce efficacy and increase the risk of crop damage. Proper timing and technique are essential for successful weed management in wheat fields.
