After the pond has been cleared and disinfected, shrimps are introduced within 20 days once the disinfectant's effect has worn off. Stocking density typically ranges from 20,000 to 50,000 individuals per acre (1 mu equals 667 square meters or approximately 0.067 hectares). Within the first month after stocking, high-protein feed should be carefully provided. It is recommended to use instant-processed "egg" as a primary feed source.
The egg-based feed recipe includes 0.5 liters of eggs or duck eggs per kilogram, 0.1 kg of refined flour, 10 units of terramycin, and 10 yeast tablets. All ingredients are mixed thoroughly, steamed into cakes, and then passed through a 20-mesh sieve into a water-filled feeding tray, making it suitable for the shrimp larvae.
Feed amounts start at 250–500 grams of eggs or duck eggs per acre, gradually increasing daily. Feeding is done 10 times a day, with the quantity rising from 0.5–1 kg on day 10, to 1–2 kg on day 20, and up to 2–4 kg by day 30. The feed is given twice daily in the morning and evening, or three times a day—morning, lunch, and evening—with the feed distributed evenly around the pond edges. Feeding times are set between 8:00–9:00 AM, 4:00–5:00 PM, and 9:00–10:00 PM. When feeding three times a day, the ratio is 3:3:4 for each meal.
If fresh eggs or duck eggs are unavailable or too expensive, alternatives like soy flour, peanut bran, cooked fish meat, or pig blood can be used, but they must maintain a high protein content to support the growth of the shrimp seedlings. After one month of this intensive feeding, the shrimp reach a length of over 3 cm and are ready to transition to pelleted feed, entering the adult shrimp rearing stage. This method ensures optimal development and prepares the shrimp for the next phase of their life cycle.
