Fermented bed pig litter can not be too thin
The bedding for pigs in a fermentation system should not be too thin. Some customers have achieved excellent results by using our golden treasure products in combination with the fermentation bed, making the system more reliable. However, others haven't seen the expected outcomes. This isn't due to a problem with the product itself, but rather because of some common misunderstandings during the setup and management process.
For example, in many foreign systems, the microbial fermentation bed needs to be at least one meter thick to function properly. However, with advanced technology, we are able to achieve the same effective fermentation with just 50 centimeters of bedding, which is more cost-effective for pig farmers. Unfortunately, some people assume that even thinner layers—like 30, 25, or 20 centimeters—are sufficient. This assumption is completely wrong.
Initially, a thin layer might still work for a few days, but as the fermentation progresses, it becomes insufficient. A thin fermentation bed cannot create a proper moisture gradient, leading to an inability to absorb excess waste from the pigs. This causes the bedding to become oversaturated quickly, creating an environment where harmful bacteria can thrive. As a result, the temperature drops, and foul odors begin to appear.
Additionally, pigs naturally tend to dig or arch in the bedding. If the bed is too thin, repeated digging can break down the structure entirely, destroying the fermentation process and rendering the system ineffective. To ensure long-term success, it's crucial to follow the recommended thickness and maintain proper conditions throughout the entire process.
