Adding light to layers

Illumination is an important factor that affects the laying of laying hens. Artificial supplemental lighting requires science. Mainly pay attention to four aspects:

1, light to be stable

Adding light to layer chickens generally begins at 19 weeks of age, and the duration of light should be from short to long. It is advisable to add half an hour each week. When the daily light time reaches 16 hours, you should maintain stable light, not the length of time, the best way is to fill the light sooner or later.

2, the strength should be suitable

For laying hens, the light intensity required is typically 2.7 watts per square metre. Multi-layer cage chicken sheds are designed to provide sufficient illuminance for the bottom layer. The illuminance at the time of design should be increased, typically 3.3 to 3.5 watts per square meter.

3, the illumination should be uniform

Installation of light bulbs in chicken houses should be 40-60 watts is appropriate, the general lamp height of 2 meters, 3 meters away from the light. If two or more rows of light bulbs are to be installed inside the house, they should be arranged crosswise. The distance between the light bulb and the wall should be half the space between the bulbs. Attention should also be paid to the replacement of damaged light bulbs at any time. The light bulbs should be wiped once a week to keep them inside. Appropriate brightness.

4, it is appropriate to use red light

Different light colors, different wavelengths. Tests have shown that under the same conditions, hens reared in red light have a higher egg production rate than hens under light of other colors.
