Research progress on drying technology of traditional Chinese medicine extract: vacuum belt drying

Vacuum belt drying

Vacuum belt drying is a relatively moderate drying method between freeze drying and spray drying in terms of drying temperature and efficiency. Although the development time is not long, it is highly valued by the industry and highly evaluated by users. . After the extractor is preheated to the set temperature, the feed is fed by the feed pump at a preset feed rate. The cloth is evenly laid on the conveyor belt, and the conveyor belt is operated at a set rate. Under the conditions, the heating zones are sequentially moved, and then passed through the cooling zone. The dried product is peeled off from the conveyor belt, and after being cut off, it is dropped into a pulverizing device, and the pulverized dried product is discharged through an air brake type discharge device.

The vacuum belt drying technology has the following characteristics: (1) low drying temperature, suitable for drying heat sensitive Chinese medicine extract; (2) suitable for drying and easy oxidation of traditional Chinese medicine extract; (3) suitable for drying high concentration, high viscosity Chinese medicine dip (4) The product has good solubility and evenly distributed on the conveyor belt. After heating and drying, it can form a porous structure material layer, and the solubility of the product is significantly improved; (5) continuous operation, suitable For large-scale production.

Foreign countries have applied vacuum belt drying equipment to industrial production 10 years ago, but in the domestic difference between the concept and technology level, the introduction of this new drying technology is relatively lagging behind. The Swiss company Buh-Gade has developed a range of belt-type continuous vacuum drying equipment with automatic cleaning. The process that Germany's Mark has been engaged in since 1995 has shortened the production cycle and improved production efficiency and product quality.

For traditional Chinese medicine extracts, the problem of spray-dried Zui is that it is easy to absorb moisture from sticky walls and dry products, and it is difficult to handle high-concentration, high-viscosity Chinese medicine extracts. In response to this problem, a new generation of one-step granulation Chinese medicine drying tower has been used for low-temperature drying, which can avoid the hot-melt sticky wall of the low-melting material, and can effectively shoot down the adhered dry powder in a boiling state. Research by Qu Cunhai et al. showed that the softening point of traditional Chinese medicine extract is lower than the air inlet temperature of spray drying, which is the main cause of sticking wall. By adding excipients to improve the softening point of the extract, the sticking phenomenon can be eliminated. The CS series Chinese medicine spray dryer produced by Zhejiang Erle Drying Equipment Co., Ltd. changed the sticking, moisture absorption and agglomeration phenomenon encountered by the traditional spray dryer, and did not add any auxiliary materials during the spraying process. Another drawback of spray drying is that the heat sensitive material has oxidation problems during spray drying and needs to be given sufficient attention. In addition, the spray drying equipment is large, the structure requirements are high, the energy consumption is high, the cleaning is inconvenient, and the application in the drying of the traditional Chinese medicine extract is still limited.
