How to control soybean field?
At the adult stage of the worms, it is recommended to spray 90% trichlorfon crystals diluted 1000 times or 2.5% deltamethrin emulsion diluted 2000 times on soybean crops and similar leguminous plants. During the critical growth period of soybeans, applying an insecticide at a rate of 5% per acre, which offers long-lasting effects and strong contact action, can effectively protect the entire growing season from earthworm damage. If the soybeans are being sown, the treatment can be applied before planting. In late July, when the worms are still small and their resistance is low, it's an ideal time for control. Apply 5 kg of 3% phoxim granules or 1.5 kg of 14% Le Sibu granules mixed with 50 kg of fine soil, and spread it around the rhizosphere of the soybean plants. After spreading, you can either lightly till the soil or water it in to ensure effective coverage.
If no preventive measures were taken earlier, and by late August, scattered damaged plants are observed, immediate action should be taken. Use 90% trichlorfon crystals or 50% phoxim EC diluted between 800 to 1000 times, and apply the solution directly into the furrows around the bean plants, combined with liquid fertilizer. Additionally, using a device to create small holes in the soil can significantly enhance the effectiveness of the treatment, ensuring better control of the pest population. This approach not only helps in reducing the current infestation but also prevents future outbreaks, making it a practical and efficient method for farmers to manage earthworm damage in soybean fields.
